TREATMENT APPROACH

It’s my intention to foster an environment that feels safe, welcoming, and inclusive. Here’s what you can expect from every massage:

It’s About You

While the “standard massage experience” involves undressing the areas we’re working on, using lotion, and working in a dim room with relaxing music playing, none of these things are required for an effective massage.

  • You can remain fully or partially clothed if you prefer. (Regardless of clothing preferences, you’ll always be fully covered by a sheet or blanket except for the area we’re currently working on.)

  • We can find a position to treat you in that feels physically and emotionally comfortable for your body, whether that’s lying face down, face up, on your side, or even sitting in a chair.

  • You’re welcome to invite someone you trust into the room with us.

  • Lighting levels, music, and temperature can all be adjusted within reason, and we can work with or without lotion.

  • I follow your lead when it comes to talking during the massage, so feel free to chat as much or as little as you’d like.

Massage
Safe Space

Your capacity to experience and enjoy massage may be impacted by sensory sensitivities, communication barriers, chronic pain, the way you feel about your body, anxiety about touch or the social aspect of massage, or previous experiences.

Every treatment (especially earlier in our work together) begins with a discussion of how, where, and why we’ll be working with different areas of your body, and you always have the opportunity to stop or change what we’re doing. This makes massage a great opportunity to practise setting boundaries in a safe environment.

If you have any questions or concerns about what to expect during your treatment, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm happy to provide more detailed information and discuss accommodations that can be made to ensure you can approach massage with comfort and confidence.

Education and Advice

I’m passionate about helping my clients find ways to incorporate movement into their lives in a way that feels good and is fun. At the end of the session or even while you’re still on the table, we can chat about stretches and strengthening exercises that may benefit your condition, adjustments that can be made at work or during activities you do often, and other treatments you may benefit from. If you’d like, I can even teach you or someone you trust how to massage you.
